VW Action

This weekend is host to the VW Action event at Santa Pod - one of the best shows of the year here in the UK, and one that the Rennwagens always try to support as much as possible. Especially exciting is that we have a few prospects who will be trying to earn their wings this weekend... good luck to Peach, Neil and Damo this weekend from us all....

Kraftwerk & Limebug Open Day, Aug 26th

Another small local show in its first year, but no doubt the start of something great was this event at local VW Shop Kraftwerk's Fenton workshop address. A great day out and nice to see nearly every Renwagen Member and a good many prospects in attendance, even if our cars are all in pieces! The turnout to the show was amazing, especially as it was essentially a word of mouth event, organised in three or four short weeks! The Rennwagens had a few cars in attendance, the focal point being Mark Palmer's race car in the Drag Day / Rennwagens marquee. Great to meet so many new faces and catch up with old ones too.... photo credits to Matt Pennill and Daz Spender

Retrometal Event at Uttoxeter Racecourse

Held on the 12th August Retro Metal was a nice change from the usual VW & Car shows, having a little of everything on display at the show. A few of the Rennwagens headed down and took a look around, here are some pics. It was a great show and the first time out for John Walklett's recently acquired Split Bus (pics to follow). Well done to all involved, we had a great time!

Last minute Cruise

Well the sun was shining so it seemed rude not to! While many were already busy for the evening, myself, Peach, Steve and Lee decided we'd blow the cobwebs away with a nice evening drive. Peach and I headed out from Madeley along country lanes out to where we were all meeting, which was at the Monkey Park at Trentham gardens. Lee and Steve joined us there having driven up from Stone. After Peach had tried some Starsky and hutch style driving on the car park we parked up and took a few photographs, and Eben Milward inspected all cars for cal-look correctness.

After passing with only a few advisories (to quote Eben: Jamie - this thing is slower than my Thomas the Tank engine ride on; Peach - Bumpers... wtf, get some nerfs on this thing; Lee - Bling, this ain't the hood; Steve - a bus??? Come on dad, really? wtf), we headed on down to the three Crowns pub in Stone, where we parked up and enjoyed an ice cold drink.

John Parton headed down in his T5 to say hi and drown some of his sorrows (his 2276 Oval has persistent engine trouble!), and we talked cars bench raced and finally called it a night. As with any evening out with cars it was not entirely uneventful, with Peach's car suffering a few very minor teething troubles (loose wires and other small items to add to his to-do list), and Lee's Ghia getting a little too warm. Still it takes miles under the wheels to iron out issues. On the way back to camp we stopped off (i.e. broke down) by the railway tracks to take some more pictures. Here are a few of those taken. HAPPINESS IS A HOT VW!

ET Board updated again!

I'm sure Mossy is doing this just to keep me busy.... but here it is updated with his new pb - well done Rich!

Its been a busy weekend for the Rennwagens, with the majority of the membership heading to a local show, VW North West held at Tatton Park, and Richie Moss heading up to York to run his car on the quarter mile.

Best news of the day is that Richie ran a new pb, breaking into the 11’s for the first time with a fantastic 11.97 pass @ 110mph. Unfortunately Rich only got two passes in, and his second one was aborted due to missing second gear, thanks in no small part to pulling his largest wheelie off the line!

Tatton park has been a club staple event since we first started getting together in the late nineties, and again we had a club display this year, with the two clubs race cars of Mark and Jamie Palmer on display along with honorary member Phil Wain’s beautiful Porsche 912. This along with the support vehicles of Jamie & Mark’s tow T4’s and Gaz Priest’s hot VR6 VW Sharan made up a club display, complete with club and Drag Day regalia. The club presence in the display area may have been limited to just a handful of cars, but it was great to see so many members and associates in attendance keeping the club spirit alive and well, easily spotted by their Rennwagen T-shirts! As usual it was a great day out and an excellent time was had by all.
