American Super Stock vs. Aircooled Eliminators

Sunday saw York raceway host the A.S.S. vs. A.C.E. shootout, and a few Rennwagens went up to the strip to take part. Jamie Palmer dragged his 1954 turbo'd bug and Rich Moss drove his 1965 2332cc Bug up. Accompanying us was club prospect Steve Milward in his 2165 61 bug, along with a number of guys along without their cars to support those running and cheer on the A.C.E. competitors.

Rich drove his car incredibly hard throughout the day (in spite of a 7.5 hrd round trip to the strip and back home!) which resulted in an incredibly impressive time of 13.2 seconds at 102mph. A change to a more strip friendly tyre will surely see Rich into the 12's next season...

Jamie managed to chip a little more of his previous pb and got down to a 12.52 @ 112mph, again on radials, and looking for a bit more next season with a change of tyre.

Steve's efforts paid off with a best ET of the day of 15.2 seconds at 88 mph, a club qualifying pass - welcome to the club Steve!

Sadly, on the shootout front a few too many redlights and break outs meant the V8 racers took the win, but it was still a great days racing against some incredible machinery at a brilliant track.
