Renn-Wagens @ VW Action

New personal bests for most, and a couple of breakages were the order of th weekend before foul weather put an end to the weekends racing.

Paul Beardmore's turbo bug was out on the strip and looked a genuine white knuckle ride - his efforts over the weekend unfortunately didn't result in a complete full power run but Paul ended up with a best time of 13.33 @ 91.7mph and a broken axle. This thing will honk on when Paul's notoriously heavy right foot is let loose on the car fully!

John Walklett installed A NOS system into his bug shortly before the show but was plagued with problems on the setup throughout the racing, BUT he did end up with a new pb with a time of 12.4 @ 104.30 - an amazing time for a true street car. With further dialling in John will be looking for improvements that may even see him into the 11's.

Dave Wain brought out his '66 and drove it to a brilliant new pb of 13.6 @ 97.43 MUCH quicker than his previous 14.03. Unfortunately Dave's racing ended on a low note when he stripped 1st gear...

Mike Riley's Samba was given a good thrashing, seeing Mike beat his previous best of 17.16 and getting down into the 16's - 16.7 AND he even managed to drive it home! Nice one Mike!

Last, but by no means least - Kev Donlon's awesome turbo bay! Kev has been hunting a 14 second quarter mile for a while now and well and truly found it storming down the quarter mile in 14.30 seconds. NUTS.

Racing aside the show was just brilliant - the sun shone on Saturday and the racing carried on into the evening - I've personally never seen night racing before and I was blown away, it's awesome. Its just a shame the rain came down on the Sunday! There was a brilliant turn out of awesome cars from two notable heavy hitters on the cal-look/drag racing club scene - the JG54 Greenhearts were out in force and the DAS crowd made the long trip across to the show. VW Action was surely the best show of the year on UK soil to see real cal-look cars on the strip, a true spectacle.

A major mention to the organisers, marshalls, racers and all the other people who made it a great weekend - THANKS!
